With the full support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Scholarship (Local Studies), Kung graduated with Distinction from the Master of Music programme at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2025, majoring in the ruan under Professor Lui Kwan-on. He also holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from HKAPA, where he majored in the ruan under Mr. Lai Ka Tai.
Kung’s zhongruan solo recitals include the well-received Euphonious – Kung Ka-ho Zhongruan Recital in 2022, Kung Ka-ho Bachelor Graduation Recital in 2023, and Spring Beyond the Mist – Kung Ka-ho Master Graduation Recital in 2025. Both Euphonious and Spring Beyond the Mist were conceived from his contemplation of different stages of life, each presenting itself as a concert-as-artwork. Beginning with Spring Beyond the Mist, he has embarked on a decade-long series of zhongruan solo recitals, wholeheartedly devoted to exploring the possibilities of the instrument across traditional and contemporary music, deepening the cultural significance and identity of the zhongruan. Forthcoming recitals include Drunken Clouds, Solitary Shadow at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre on 30 June 2026 and In Loneliness I Search in 2027.
At leisure, Kung is a reader, chatter, and a wandering mind; at work, a dedicated collaborator and crafter of imaginative programmes – and for the rest of the time, nothing if not a ruminator.
